“Assessment of Pebble Motion on Fuel Utilization in a Pebble Bed Modular Reactor”

Using computation methods within the SCALE code package developed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory and a simplified model of a pebble bed reactor, pebble properties and motion are evaluated for their effects on fuel utilization

Captain Benevides retired on 30 Sep 2014 after thirty one years of service to our Armed Forces. Dr. Benevides went to work at US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC), Office of Regulatory Research. Dr. Benevides is currently a Scientist at Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division in the Radiation Technology Group. He also is holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor position at Georgetown University in the Health Physics Program. Captain Benevides’ personal military awards included Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three-gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star), and Army Achievement Medal.

Brianna Kaufmann is a Nuclear Engineering major with a Russian minor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was selected as a Bowman Scholar and early-selected Submarines in the spring of her 2/C year. Ms. Kaufmann also received the inaugural Behrens’ Family Scholarship.
